Charity number: 1179048

This year we really wanted to focus on mental health, so the chosen charity for 2021 is CHUMS. A charity dedicated to providing Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Support to children, young people and families by supporting the family as a whole.

Enabling positive and fulfilling lives by increasing emotional resilience in children, young people, families and communities. Offering therapeutic support, engaging children, young people and families within the development of service delivery. As well as raising awareness of mental health difficulties to reduce stigma and highlight the need for early intervention and prevention.

CHUMS interventions follow a strengths-based approach. Improving the emotional wellbeing of service users by strengthening support networks, developing emotional regulation skills, and equipping service users with strategies that they can use for ongoing self-management. Every year CHUMS needs to raise £500,000 to operate their 5 charitable services, and demand for these is significantly increasing in light of Covid

Dawn Hewitt, CEO of CHUMS SAYS: “The pandemic has changed the World and especially impacted negatively on the mental health of our children and young people. We are delighted to be supported by Scumrun to raise much needed funds for CHUMS Charity, to support children, young people and families with their mental health and emotional wellbeing. As a result of the pandemic, we have received an influx of referrals particularly for anxiety, low mood, self-harm, and bereavement, including following a suicide. The support of Scumrun will make a huge difference in responding to this, to enable more young people to overcome their mental health difficulties, develop resiliency and strategies for coping and be able to enjoy life in the way they should”.

Ed White, Founder of Scumrun says: “We’re delighted to be helping support such a fantastic cause.  Mental health of so many has taken a pounding this year and it is so important that mental health is recognised and supported.  Every bit of awareness and fundraising goes a long way and we’re thrilled to be a part of this.”
